☀️ Overwhelmed? Same. Here’s How I Chakra-Checked Myself Before I Wrecked Myself.

Let me set the scene.
I was standing in the kitchen, staring into the fridge like a cow staring into a bush. I had ten tabs open in my brain all competing for attention, a kid in meltdown, heatwave crippling me and no idea where my phone charger was. My heart was racing, my breath shallow, my to-do list doing an attention seeking dance and suddenly, it hit me: I’m not broken I’m just overwhelmed.
Not just “I need a nap” overwhelmed. I'm talking the full-body, wtf kind of overwhelm.
And that’s when I did what any semi-grounded, spiritually curious person might do.
I chakra-checked myself.

☀️What’s a Chakra Again?
Think of chakras as your body’s energy WiFi routers. There are seven main ones running from the base of your spine to the top of your head. Each one governs certain emotional, physical, and spiritual themes. When they’re vibing high? You’re aligned, inspired, and maybe even hydrated. When they’re out of whack? Hello, existential spiral over a driver beeping his horn at you.
☀️Feel the Feels (aka, Where Is the Chaos Living?)
When I’m overwhelmed, I pause (after the fridge stare, obviously) and ask:
“Where do I feel this in my body?”
Because stress isn’t just a brain thing—it’s a whole being thing.
Sometimes I feel it in my chest, like a balloon that’s about to pop.
Other days, it’s in my gut, like an emotional hangover.
Let’s go chakra by chakra…
✨Root Chakra (Muladhara)
Located: Base of spine
Themes: Safety, stability, survival
Overwhelm vibes: “Am I safe? Am I secure? Should I buy rice in bulk, build a bunker and become a Prepper?”
💡Support it:
Walk barefoot on grass like a carefree wild child who doesn’t worry about stepping on something a dog left behind
Eat grounding foods (potatoes, carrots, stews—basically comfort in a bowl)
Say things like “I am safe. I am supported.”
✨Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)
Located: Lower abdomen
Themes: Emotions, creativity, pleasure
Overwhelm vibes: “I’m numb. I’ve lost my sparkle. And I cried at an ad on the radio.”
💡Support it:
Move your hips (Sharika was right the hips don’t lie)
Take a bath and pretend you’re a mermaid
Make something just for fun—paint, collage, bake cookies
✨Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)
Located: Upper abdomen
Themes: Personal power, confidence, control
Overwhelm vibes: “I’ve lost control of everything including my email inbox, my grey hair, and my life.”
💡Support it:
Do something that makes you feel capable—fold laundry like your a boss
Breathe deep into your belly like a calm lioness
Affirm: “I’ve got this. Even if ‘this’ is currently a hot mess at the moment.”
✨Heart Chakra (Anahata)
Located: Centre of chest
Themes: Love, compassion, connection
Overwhelm vibes: “Why do I hate everyone but also want a hug and a donut?”
💡Support it:
Call a friend just to say “hi” (and maybe cry a little)
Practice compassion—yes, even for yourself when you shouted at an inanimate object
Hug a pet, a person, or yourself.
✨Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)
Located: Throat
Themes: Communication, expression, truth
Overwhelm vibes: “No one gets me. Also, I haven’t told anyone what I need in 44 years.”
💡Support it:
Sing loudly to 1980’s pop anthems. Extra healing if it’s off-key
Journal your inner chaos and add bold & underlining for dramatic effect
Practice saying “no” out loud
✨Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)
Located: Between the eyebrows
Themes: Intuition, clarity, vision
Overwhelm vibes: “My brain is static. I can’t even see past tomorrow’s dinner.”
💡Support it:
Meditate for 3 minutes (or 30 seconds—zero judgment)
Gaze softly at the moon
Trust your gut even if your to-do list is trying to gaslight you
✨Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
Located: Top of head
Themes: Spiritual connection, higher self, oneness
Overwhelm vibes: “What’s the point? Should I just move to a cabin in the woods?”
💡Support it:
Lie on the floor and stare at the ceiling (the ancient ritual of surrender)
Light a candle and whisper, “Help,” to the universe
Remember: You’re a speck of stardust doing your best, and that is divine in itself

☀️Final Thoughts: You’re Not Broken. You’re Just Human.
Overwhelm isn’t a sign that you’re failing—it’s a sign that you’re feeling. That your system is trying to talk to you. And sometimes, the best response isn’t to push through or “get it together.” Sometimes, the answer is to listen, tune in, and give your chakras (and your nervous system) a little love.
So next time the world feels like too much, put a hand on your body, take a deep breath, and ask:
“Where does it live, and what does it need?”
You might be surprised at how wise your inner self can be.
PS: If all else fails, go back to the fridge. You won’t find enlightenment in a Kinder Bueno, but you might find a moment of peace. And that, my friend, is enough for today. 🧡
