☀️ What path are you on?

I’ve been thinking about paths lately.

The choices we make.

The things we put up with.

The people we spend time with.

The way we speak to ourselves.

The things we keep doing even though, deep down, we know they don’t feel right anymore.

I think there are probably three paths. Well I don’t actually think it… I genuinely believe I know it for a fact cause I’ve walked them all.

Path A

This is the path you’re already on.

The familiar one.

Maybe it’s not awful. Maybe that’s actually the problem.

Because if something is completely terrible, it’s usually pretty easy to know you need to change it.

But what if it’s just… not right anymore?

You’re getting through the days, but you’re tired.

You’re doing what you’re supposed to do, but you don’t feel like yourself.

You keep saying, “It’s fine.”

It is, in fact, not fine.

Your body knows it too.

Your gut feels off. Your sleep is rubbish. You’re more irritable than usual. Little things feel like big things. You’re constantly switched on.

And somewhere underneath all of that, there’s a quiet feeling of:

I don’t think I can keep doing this.

But you do.

Because it’s familiar.

Because changing things feels scary.

Because you’ve invested years into this particular version of your life.

Because sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.

Then there’s Path B.

This is the path you find when you finally start listening to yourself.

Really listening.

Not just listening to your thoughts — because honestly, mine can be absolutely useless sometimes.

I mean listening to your body.

Your gut.

Your nervous system.

That little voice that keeps saying, this isn't working for me anymore.

You start noticing what makes you feel good and what leaves you completely depleted.

You start saying no.

You stop explaining yourself quite so much.

You make different choices.

You disappoint a few people.

You probably disappoint yourself a few times too.

And slowly, things start to feel different.

Not perfect.

Not magically healed.

Just… lighter.

There’s a bit more space.

You breathe a bit easier.

You start recognising yourself again.

And there can be this enormous relief in realising:

Oh. There is another way to live.

And you think Wow if I just knew this path existed and I was entitled to switch to it then things could’ve been so much better so much sooner.

But then there’s Path X.

And this is the one I find really interesting.

Because sometimes, when you’re on Path A, you can’t even imagine Path B.

And when you finally find Path B, you still might not realise there’s a Path X waiting for you.

A life you genuinely couldn't have pictured from where you were.

A version of you that feels more settled.

More honest.

More alive.

Not necessarily more successful by anyone else's definition.

Just more you.

The kind of life where you don’t constantly feel like you’re trying to keep up with some imaginary version of who you’re supposed to be.

Where you wake up and your first thought isn't, How am I going to get through today?

Where your relationships feel safer.

Your choices feel more like your own.

Your body doesn't feel like something you're constantly fighting against.

And you realise that what you were searching for wasn't necessarily a better life.

You were searching for a life that felt like home.

And maybe that’s what Path X is.

Not some perfect destination where nothing ever goes wrong.

Just a life where you finally feel like you belong in your own skin.

The thing is, you don't have to know where Path X is before you leave Path A. Some people will go their whole lives not evening knowing about Path B never mind Path X.

You don't need the whole plan.

You don't need certainty.

You don't even need to feel ready.

Sometimes you just need to take one tiny step in a different direction.

One honest conversation.

One boundary.

One walk.

One proper rest.

One “no.”

One “yes.”

One decision that your future self will thank you for.

And then another.

And another.

That's how things change.

Not usually in one huge, dramatic moment.

But in the small decisions we make when nobody is watching.

So if something in you has been quietly saying, there has to be another way

Maybe listen.

You don't have to get rid of your whole life.

You don't have to have it all figured out.

Just take one step in a better direction today.

You never know where that path might lead.
