☀️Is your soul feeling dusty?

There are times in life when you just know something needs to shift.
Nothing is necessarily falling apart.
You’re functioning. You’re getting through the days. You’re answering the messages, doing the work, looking after everyone else, remembering where you put your keys… mostly!!!!
But somewhere underneath all of that, you can feel it.
A heaviness.
A little disconnect from yourself.
A sense that you’ve gathered a layer of dust along the way!
That’s where the idea of Dusting Off My Soul came from.
Because sometimes we don’t need to become a whole new person.
We just need to come back to ourselves. Dust off our soul. I think our nervous system has quite a lot to do with that.
When life feels a bit too much
I’ve become much more aware of those moments when my body is telling me something before my brain has caught up.
I might feel restless. Tired but unable to properly switch off. Irritated by things that normally wouldn’t bother me.
And sometimes I realise I’ve simply got too much going on around me.
Too much noise.
Too much doing.
Too much thinking.
Too much absorbing.
Too much of everyone else.
And not quite enough me.
I don't think we talk enough about how much our surroundings can influence how we feel.
The people we're around.
The spaces we're living and working in.
The things we're consuming.
The pace we're keeping.
The energy of stuff!

A reset doesn't have to look perfect
I love the idea of a reset, but I'm not talking about disappearing to a silent retreat, (I think I might get kicked out on day one!).
Although, if that's your thing, more power to you!
For me, a reset can be much simpler.
Opening the windows.
Getting outside.
Clearing a space.
Saying no when I actually mean no.
Taking a breath.
Moving my body.
Singing my lungs out.
There's something about moving and singing the wrong words out to your hearts content without thinking about how it looks or sounds that can shift something.
You don't have to perform.
You don't have to get the movement or lyrics “right”.
You can just move and blast out a power ballad.
Sometimes the body needs an opportunity to let go of what the mind has been holding onto.
And before anyone starts…
No, I'm not about to tell you that dark chocolate is the answer to all of life's problems, but it is good for grounding!!!
And while I know there are plenty of wellness conversations about the benefits of dark chocolate, my personal preference is a Kinder Bueno.
Which, unfortunately, isn't at all the same thing.
I'm alright with that.
Because this isn't about perfection.
It's about noticing what genuinely makes you feel more like yourself.
What brings a little lightness back?
What makes you breathe a little deeper?
What makes you laugh?
What makes you feel connected to your soul?
What makes you think, whoop… there she is!!
That's the good stuff.
Dusting off the layers
I think we all collect things as we move through life.
Expectations.
Responsibilities.
Old stories.
Other people's opinions.
Disappointments.
Busy schedules.
Things we said yes to when we really wanted to say no.
Versions of ourselves that once served us but perhaps don't anymore.
And every now and again, we need to dust some of it off. Not because any of it makes us bad or broken. Just because we don't have to carry everything forever. If it’s heavy then put it down!
Maybe the shift you need isn't enormous.
Maybe it's changing one thing in your environment.
Maybe it's creating a boundary.
Maybe it's resting.
Maybe it's moving.
Maybe it's asking for help.
Maybe it's finally admitting that something doesn't feel right anymore.
There is no perfect formula.
There is only paying attention.
Listening.
Noticing.
And beginning to trust yourself again.

Coming home to yourself
That's what Dusting Off My Soul means to me.
It isn't about fixing yourself.
You don't need fixing.
It's about creating the space to hear yourself underneath all the noise.
It’s about supporting your body and your nervous system with the things that help you feel safe, grounded, nourished and connected.
It's about recognising when life feels heavy and being willing to make a shift — however small.
And maybe most importantly, it's about doing it in a way that feels like you.
Not the version of you that Instagram says you should be.
Not the perfectly balanced, endlessly calm, green-juice-drinking, meditation-at-5am version.
Just you.
The real you.
The one who sometimes needs quiet and sometimes needs music blasting.
The one who might crave a walk in nature one day and a Kinder Bueno the next.
The one who needs to cry sometimes, laugh loudly sometimes and have a good old freestyle dance when words aren't quite doing the job.
Because perhaps looking after ourselves doesn't have to be so serious all the time.
Perhaps healing, growing and coming back to ourselves can have a bit of joy in it too.
A bit of laughter.
A bit of movement.
A bit of mess.
A bit of chocolate.
And a whole lot of soul.
So if things have been feeling heavy lately, maybe don't ask yourself, “How do I fix everything?”
Ask yourself:
“What can I gently shift?”
What can I clear?
What can I release?
What can I say no to?
What can I make lighter?
What would feel good?
And what part of me has been waiting underneath all the dust to come back out and play?
Maybe you don't need a complete reinvention.
Maybe you just need to dust yourself off.
Take a breath.
Put on your favourite song.
Have a little dance.
And remember who you are.
That's where the shift begins x
