The Day I Trusted Myself—and Everything Changed

I used to think trust was a given. It was something you either had or you didn’t, something that just existed in the background like the hum of a fridge you never really hear until it breaks down. And break down it did.

I found myself at a time in my life where everything felt unsure, fragile. I couldn’t trust the process, the universe, or even my own instincts. My intuition? It was like trying to hear a whisper in the middle of a thunderstorm. It was there—somewhere—but drowned out by the noise, by the doubt, by the uncertainty.

I couldn’t trust myself anymore. I didn’t even know who I was anymore. My gut? It had gone on holidays to the Bermuda Triangle. I couldn’t see past the haze of confusion, the stubborn grey cloud that seemed to hang over every decision, every step I took.

And let’s not even talk about trusting the process. The process of what?

Life?

Destiny?

A slow crawl towards some undefined "better"?

Trusting that things would eventually fall into place felt like putting my faith in a jigsaw puzzle without knowing what the final picture was supposed to look like. And where the hell was that missing piece, no doubt I threw it in the bin with some broken toys quickly before the kids caught me.

It took time, a lot of time, to find the courage to trust.

Trust that there was a method to the madness.

Trust that even if I couldn’t see the outcome, it was worth taking the first step.

Slowly, I began to notice something: things were moving.

The grey, that heavy fog that once blanketed everything, began to lift.

But it wasn’t like flipping a switch. Nope, it was more like a soft, slow sunrise that gently stretched across the horizon, revealing a world that had always been there but was hidden under some kind of veil of doubt.

I realised trust wasn’t about certainty. It wasn’t about knowing the exact path, the exact steps to take. Trust was the act of surrendering. Of letting go. Of allowing the universe to gently guide me when I didn’t know where I was going. That was the true essence of trust.

☀️Trust in Yourself: The First Step to Reclaiming Your Power

Here’s the thing no one tells you about trust: it’s not about the universe working its magic—well, at least not all the time. It’s about trusting yourself.

Trusting that you are capable, even when you feel unsure.

Trusting that you will make the right decisions, even when your mind screams, “Are you sure about this?”

You see, it’s easy to second-guess yourself when you’re on the verge of doing something new, something scary. Imposter syndrome likes to creep in, telling you that you don’t deserve success, that you’ll fail, that you’re not enough.

But the truth is, you are.

You have always been enough.

You’ve just forgotten it for a moment, buried under layers of doubt, fear, and perfectionism.

And guess what?

The moment you trust yourself, everything shifts. It’s like a dam breaking, and suddenly, you’re flooded with the energy, the clarity, the confidence you didn’t even know you had.

Trust yourself, and you’ll start to see that the universe was never withholding anything from you. It was waiting for you to step up, to believe in your own ability to rise.

☀️Trust in the Unseen: The Magic That Moves Behind the Curtains

But let’s not get it mixed up.

Trust is about more than just believing in yourself. It’s about surrendering to the unseen.

Trusting that there is an energy—call it the universe, or spirit, or whatever resonates with you—that is guiding you, even when you can’t see the way ahead. And yes, I’m talking about the stuff that doesn’t make sense, the energy you can’t measure or touch but still feels so real.

It’s trusting in the whispers of your intuition, even when it feels like you’re walking in the dark. It’s trusting that the subtle signs, the moments of serendipity, the synchronicities—are not random. They’re nudges, reminders, pulling you closer to where you’re meant to be. The universe isn’t just sitting idly by, waiting for you to make a move. It’s working with you, even when you don’t have all the answers.

And here's the kicker: trust doesn’t mean you’ll have all the details, all the answers, or even a clear path ahead. It means you have the courage to take that first step—without seeing the full picture. Trusting the process means embracing uncertainty, knowing that you don’t need to have it all figured out. You only need to trust what you feel deep inside.

☀️The Glorious Moment: When You Finally Step Forward Without Hesitation

There’s a moment—oh, there is a moment—when it all clicks. For me it was stepping forward as a Reiki Master to hold space for new level 1 students. Stepping forward without doubt without hesitation just an unwavering belief it would all work out.

When you stop second-guessing and finally trust. Trust in the process. Trust in yourself. Trust that the universe has been working behind the scenes this whole time, putting things into place, guiding you along. You step forward, without hesitation, without that nagging voice telling you you’re not ready.

And in that moment, you realise how far you’ve come. How much growth has happened when you weren’t paying attention. How, in spite of the uncertainty, you’ve been moving forward all along. That’s the beauty of trust: when you look back and realise that each tiny step, each leap of faith, has led you right here.

So, I say it loud and louder still for the people at the back: trust.

Trust the process.

Trust yourself.

And trust that the magic is working even when you can’t see it.

Step forward, without hesitation, and let the world catch up.

The universe is waiting. Your soul is ready. And trust? Well, trust is what gets you there.
